Fleurop & Flowers with CO2 information

Since May 2025, Fleurop Switzerland has been rating bouquets and flower arrangements on a four-point CO2 scale. The aim is to provide greater transparency for sustainable decisions.
Fleurop investigates the CO2 impact of flowers
How much CO2 are individual flowers, bouquets, and arrangements responsible for? Fleurop has been asking this question for a long time. But the answer isn't simple: it depends a lot on where the flowers come from, how they were transported, and the conditions they were grown under. A seasonal outdoor flower from Switzerland has a completely different carbon footprint than a flower grown in a heated greenhouse and possibly imported by plane. That is why Fleurop uses a color scale that provides a rough guide. But it is clear that seasonal, local products have the lowest carbon footprint.
Raising awareness of the environment and personal consumption
Fleurop Switzerland is the first flower delivery network to rate individual flowers, bouquets, and arrangements on a four-level CO2 scale: green, yellow, orange, and red. This allows customers to see immediately how climate-friendly a flower product is. Since the carbon footprint depends on many factors and is correspondingly complex to calculate, the classification is based on comprehensive data analysis, well-founded average values, and external expert advice. Fleurop's goal: greater transparency for sustainable decisions! Ultimately, every contribution helps to reduce carbon emissions and promote a more sustainable future.
