Shades of violet & blue

Blue for boys, pink for girls? That's the rule. Until the beginning of the First World War, however, the color pink was attributed to boys.

Red was considered a sign of masculinity, so pink - known as «little red» - was used exclusively for «little men».

When blue navy uniforms and work suits became ubiquitous during and after the war, people suddenly associated the color blue with men and light blue with little boys.
